Colorado operates under the contributory negligence rule, which means that the person who injured you may file a counter-claim for damages if they believe that you, the injured, were also partially at fault.

When will the other person’s insurance contact me?

Colorado law stipulates that insurance is not allowed to contact you within 30 days of being injured. A release of liability, which is a statement that says you won’t sue the at-fault party for anything else, can’t be obtained by insurance within 30 days either.

LaDonna grew up in the central Wyoming town of Casper. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming.

After receiving her undergraduate degree, LaDonna immediately entered law school at the University of Wyoming College of Law in Laramie, Wyoming. Upon completing law school, she moved to Southern Oregon to work at Jackson County Legal Services in Medford, Oregon. She held this position for two years before going to work for Brown, Hughes, Bird, Rote & Wetmore in Grants Pass, Oregon. She eventually became a partner in this firm and remained there from 1997 until 2007. LaDonna then moved to Colorado and started a sole practice in 2009 before making the decision to join Killian, Davis, Richter & Fredenburg, PC in Grand Junction.
